Kyoshi Cliff McQuillen began his training in 1972. From 1975-77 he trained in Shorin Ryu. He opened his first Karate school and developed the advancement protocol for the Midwest Goju Karate Association to ensure consistency among instructors in 1983. In 1984 he opened he second karate school. In 1999 he was asked by Hanshi Lou Angel to assist Mr. Michael Adams to develop a new style (Kage Tora Kai). In 2003 he received recognition for Kage Tora Kai by Grand Master Masaaki Hatsumi. Since 1999 he has been the chief instructor for the Kage Tora Martial Arts Institute and the Shadow Tiger Society International.
