Professor Wayne Carman

Professor Wayne Carman was born and
raised in Memphis. TN where he
started studying a martial arts
weapon from Don Winters in
1969(nunchaku). He taught members of
the Shelby County Sheriff’s
Department as well as the Memphis
Police Department on how to defend
themselves against this weapon. He
started studying Tae Kwon Do from
Kang Rhee around 1969 and currently
holds a 5th Degree Black Belt in Pa
Sa Ryu Karate. In 1973 he fought his
way into becoming a United States
Karate Champion. He was chosen by
Elvis Presley to teach his Chief of
Security, Red West and his
bodyguards the nanchaku in the early
1970’s. He trained with Elvis and
his bodyguards until 1973. In 1974
he started working on the road as
part of the security team of Charlie
Rich, the Country Music Association
Entertainer of the Year. He has
appeared in several issues of Black
Belt Magazine, The Official Karate
Magazine, The Fighter International
Magazine and the just published book
The Official History of Karate in
America. He has appeared on several
TV news programs and has traveled
the United States and Europe giving
seminars as well as speaking to
churches and youth groups. He has
authored his first book "Elvis'
Dream Project The New Gladiators".
He has just completed a series of
Karate training tapes based on the
principles and techniques that he
and Elvis trained with. He is
currently teaching Martial Arts at
his school in Branson, Missouri and
is busy promoting Elvis’ dream the
TCB (Taking Care of Business) Karate
System and principles of Faith,
Spirit, and Discipline where he
holds a 10th Degree Black Belt. He
is a member of the International
Martial Arts Council, sits on the
Board of Directors for the Universal
Martial Arts Hall of Fame and the
Cane Masters International
Association. He promotes the use of
the walking cane as a self defense
tool around the world. He loves the
cane because it is the only legal
self defense tool that can be taken
anywhere (police stations, court
rooms, planes). He has been inducted
into many Halls of Fame including
the United States Martial Arts Hall
of Fame, Universal Martial Arts Hall
of Fame, Sokeship Council, Action
Martial Arts Hall of Fame,
International Association of Karate
Kobudo, and the World Martial Arts |
