Steven Colkett

Representative of West Virginia
Master Stephen Colkett has been
studying martial arts for 41 years
and is the founder, owner and head
instructor of the Hornets Nest
Academy of Street Survival in
Harrisville, WV. He is certified in
Tiger Claw Kung Fu, Chin na, Karate,
JuJitsu, Hapkido, and Kempo. He got
his start as an amateur boxer in
1963. He began studying Tiger, White
Crane Kung Fu in 1970 under Si Tai
Gung Ki B. Yung of the Peoples
Republic of China. He holds a 4th
Degree Black Sash in Fu Jow Kung Fu,
American White Tiger Kung Fu, and Ti
Sha Shou Chin and was awarded his
red sash and title of Si-gung in
2003. He is a 5th Degree Black Belt
in American Jukido Ryu Karate and
JuJitsu. He also holds a 3rd Degree
Black Belt in Budo Zanshin Karate,
2nd Degree Black Belt in Seiei Kan
Karate, Seiei Kan JuJitsu and Budo
Zanshin JuJitsu. He is also ranked
in Goju Shori, Chinese Dragon Kempo
and Warrior Spirit Hapkido. He is an
avid competitor and is a World
Champion, National Champion, Grand
National Champion, West Virginia
State Champion, Ohio State Champion,
TriState Champion, and New Jersey
Wushu Champion. He won a spot on
Team America and represented the US
in Dublin, Ireland in 2002 and 2003
at the 6th and 7th Irish Cups,
winning more events than any other
member of the team both years. He
won 3 gold, 7 silver, and 3 bronze
medals. He has also been awarded the
status of All American. He is a life
member of the Seiei Kan Karate
Federation, Seiei Kan JuJitsu
Federation, Independent Martial Arts
Federation, and the American Jukido
Ryu Martial Arts Union. He has
memberships in the EUSA Martial Arts
Association and the Universal
Martial Arts Hall of Fame. He is the
West Virginia State Representative
for the Independent Martial Arts
Federation and the Universal Martial
Arts Hall of Fame. He is the West
Virginia State Director for the
American Jukido Ryu Martial Arts
Union. He has been inducted into the
Universal Martial Arts Hall of Fame
as Instructor of the Year-Kung Fu
Wushu (2003), USA International
Black Belt Hall of Fame for
International Achievement (2002),
Martial Arts Master of the Year
(2003) and Golden Lifetime
Achievement (2004). He also served
for 14 years in the US Military
(Army, Navy and Marine Corps). |
